Once the DVLA have retained the registration from your vehicle, they will send you a new Log Book (V5C) in the post which will have your new registration on it. This will allow you to get new physical plates made. You will also need to let your insurance company know that your vehicle registration has changed, after changing the physical plates on your vehicle.
